Writing Musical Bars

All right, now I'm fixing to show you all a trick and a tip to writing songs on paper, actually how you want to do it. So if I can get the camera to zoom over here I'm going to show you all. This will help you with your song structure. Like, this right here might be my first line. I might measure that to be a perfect barre. "I grew up in a neighborhood, we had no hope, the neighborhood role models all sold dope." See what I'm saying? That's my second one right there, you see what I'm saying? And then my third one might be, "Had to do something 'cause my mom so broke." See how that kind of works? And then of course the fourth barre and etcetera. So it's like, you know, whenever you're writing, this way you can keep up with your barres this way. Or you can keep up with your song structure just line for line. Line for line.
