Hooking a Refrigerant Canister to a Car's Low Service Port

In this clip we're going to talk about the proper service procedure to retro fit your vehicle's air conditioning system from R12 to 134A and recharge the system. In this step we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for hooking up our can to our low side service port. What we're going to do is unscrew the fitting here and set this aside for later re-installation. The inside of this fitting is threaded and screws down here. However, your charging hose has a quick connect, as you can see it will retract and clip like so. What you're going to do is hold downward pressure on it, retract it, and clip it in place. Make sure it's fully seated, give it a rotating pull. If it comes off, you need to push down harder to install it. Hold this up, that releases the balls, and put it on. Make sure that the lock ring snaps back down in to position before you proceed your piercing method. That is the proper way to connect your charging can to the low side service port of your air conditioning system.
