Maintaining a Rose Bouquet

Now that your rose arrangement is already designed, I'm going to talk a little bit about how to care for your arrangement. First of all, when you notice the water level going down, you're going to have to add water because the roses are still alive, they're still drinking and they're thirsty. So, you're going to add fresh water until the water gets a little bit cloudy. As soon as you see any cloudiness in the water you're going to hold the water and just tip it over the sink and empty it. Then you're just going to put the faucet right over top of the roses and you're going to fill it back up again. If you have a floral preservative, you can get little packets, you can also pour it in at that point and that will help prolong the life of the rose. Another thing that you can always do is mist it with water. The roses love to feel the moisture. You can also keep them out of direct sunlight or under a heat source, like a duct in the ceiling. If it's directly under a point where there's going to be heat coming out that's going to make the roses come up much more quickly as well as if they're in direct sunlight. They're going to open much quicker than they would if they were in a nice, cooler environment, say a centerpiece on a table. So, that's how you care for your rose arrangement.
