Connecting a Back Flow Prevention Valve

In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper way to flush your cooling system. In this step, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for hooking up your back flow prevention valve, your garden hose and your drain hose to the radiator cap. Your back flow prevention valve is going to go on one way. The black end is going to meet up to the "T" that you installed on the inlet of your heater core/heater hose. Unscrew the sealing cap, and screw the back flow valve down tight. Then, we screw our garden hose into the connection here. The garden hose is what applies the back flow pressure, just using your household water pressure, into the system to reverse flush all of the contamination out of it. What I'm going to do now is take my splash deflector, and I have a chunk of garden hose here installed; and move my radiator cap, and install that into the field neck of the radiator. It's just going to snap right in, just like so. I also have a bucket here to catch the old contaminated coolant. Go ahead and set it up just like that. You're going to want to use a bucket to catch the overflow coolant. It's a felony to dispose of it on the ground or dump it out. You can recycle it at some part stores or at oil change facilities. That is the proper way to hook your vehicle up for the flushing process.
