How to Match Wood Grain for Veneer Patch

Now on this passage that we're going to do today, we have determined that the wood is walnut and what I am showing you here is a piece of highly figured walnut. Figured is the lines in the grain. So we've procured a piece of walnut that is figured like this and we are going to look at this piece or possibly a bigger piece if you are able to get one from your restoration shop, they usually have scraps, and look around on this piece of wood and this piece of wood and try and find a place where the grain matches as close as it can. It looks like this piece right here on the end fits our grain pretty well so we're going to cut a patch to cover this damage here.
