So another important factor in protecting your back is to tune into using your abdominals to help you maintain a length in your lower back. So this next exercise is going to help you tone the lower abdominal area between the hip points. You are going to lift your feet up off the floor, try to have your knees right over your hips, your shins parallel and even. And using the muscles between the hip points, you are going to release one foot towards the floor. Exhale. Lift it back up. Inhale and exhale. Release the opposite foot down. Inhale. Lift back up. And exhale, lower down. And just repeat that as many times as you can without creating strain or arching in your lower back.
