Okay, now I'm going to jump back to cars. What we did last is we culled our topic down to something manageable. Now I want to talk about cars, because I know I look like a basketball expert, but I'm really not. Cars. What do we want to talk about cars? Well I want to talk about how to buy a new car, or buying a car. Now remember, informative and how-to are very similar. That's my general purpose is I'm going to give you information. Every single speech has a general purpose, a specific purpose, and a thesis statement, very important okay. My general purpose is to inform. I want to inform you today of what you can do when you're going to buy a car. So my specific purpose is going to be more specifically what I'm going to talk about. So, in relation to buying a car, what are the things that I would do? I could test drive, I could shop around. I don't want to buy the first car I see so I'm going to shop around to different dealers. And most importantly, I'm going to research. I want to find out everything there is out there about every car that I'm interested in. So my specific purpose is to teach my audience, or inform my audience about the things that you want to do when buying a car. Test drive, shop around, and research it, and you don't necessarily have to put them in that order, but you just want to break it down.
