Types of Public Speeches

Okay, when you're picking a speech topic, the very first thing you have to look at is what kind of speech are you suppose to deliver. Is it an informative speech? Is it a how to speech: teaching someone to do something? Is it persuasive? Or is it one of the many special occasion speeches? That's the first thing that we have to consider before we pick our topic. Then you have to think about this: what is a worthwhile topic to speak on this subject about? If you're talking informative: what is worthwhile? What is it that you want to share information about? It needs to mean something to you. And you have to like it and be interested in it, or trust me, it's going to get dreadfully boring for you to work on. That's the first thing you have to look at. Then you have to think about the cultural aspect of the audience. Who is it that you're talking to? What would they be interested in? What would be worthwhile to them?
