The Hammond Organ Rock Keyboard

In this clip we're going to be talking about the Hammond organ and the different parts to that. As you can see here, there are a lot of controls, you know, like we start, but you start with the same exact thing so at the end of the day it's still just a matter of playing notes, it's just how you manipulate all this stuff. They're basically, you have these, these are called draw bars and you can control the sounds that you can get with draw bars. Basically the low one brings a low note and then the rest get higher so you build your sound based on the draw bars. You have some volume controls here. You have some percussion that you can turn on over in here. Turn it off and this is what it sounds like. Gives it that little ting ting ting ting at the top of that. This is basically the same exact thing as up here. You have draw bars for the top, you have draw bars for the bottom and then these are presets for all those different draw bar settings. As you can see down here you'll have volume control so that give you your, gives you a little bit more expression. This cable right here takes you down to the speaker for a Hammond. If you can look at that, it's the big box with the spinny things on that and it's called a Leslie speaker and the control for that Leslie speaker is down here. There's a fast and a slow switch which is how you get different kinds of sounds out of it so what you can hear, it's fast now, and then you hit it slow, that's one of the classic sounds that you get out of a rock and roll organ is the speeding up and the slowing down. All of these pieces combine to make your Hammond organ.
