Summary of Conventional vs. Organic Foods

In review we had talked about some terms for organic and conventional foods. I had talked about between caged free and free range poultry and eggs. Talked about hormones and antibiotics. How to determine if a product is organic or not organic. And don't get confused by the food claim that something is natural. We've also talked washing practices and if that really washes the pesticides and fertilizers. And we've talked about if a product is conventional what types of things could possibly be in those foods such as synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizer, sewage sludge and the products may be genetically modified. We started off this session by talking about the two government agencies that regulate these products. So if you have questions and you would like to do some research on your own you can get on their websites which are www.usda.gov or www.fda.gov. Now this information remember is not to replace any concerns or individual concerns that you might have. So if you need to speak with a dietitian you can contact me on my website at www.lifeskillsnutrition.com or you can consult your physician for any questions that you might have concerning your health.
