"Nibbling" for Mosaic Art
Now I'll demonstrate a technique called nibbling. This is a broken coffee mug and if you want to have a certain smaller size or more precise size, right, I just want to have the design element not so much of this outer crockery, you just nibble away at it with these nippers. And you see, just grab an eighth of an inch of the crockery and squeeze and you're breaking it into very small bits. You're just sort of nibbling away at it. And this way, you can use this technique as you're doing your design to get things to fit into place. You have to be very careful when you're doing this because pieces do fly, you want to make sure there's no children around. And you want to make sure you have your safety goggles on and never brush away, if you're going to clean up, never brush away the pieces because they are pieces of glass and crockery. Make sure that you sweep your floor thoroughly when you're finished because the pieces fly pretty far. At the end, you'll take your cloth that you're working on and just throw the whole thing away. It's not good to try and clean it usually because the glass kind of sticks into the fabric. So you want to use something that you can throw away.
