Gluing the Back of Decoupage Bookends
Let's finish off our decoupaging by doing the back here. I've cut another piece and when you cut your napkins you'll want to look at the design of your napkin and decide where the design elements are going to fall on your project. This one is a fairly simple stripe, there's not that much, but many of the napkins have a focal point. You'll want to use that design element. So, we'll just glue it all down, nice and gently, and moving from the top down. Kind of a sweeping down. Now the napkin will wrinkle because when you wet it with the glue, it expands a little bit. It will wrinkle but this adds to the texture and the character of the piece. If you get any bubbles while you're working, you can go over it but put a generous amount of the decoupage glue or the white glue that you're using. Use a generous amount so that it's really slick and you're not getting any traction at all. Simply push the glue bubble to the end. That should take care of it. Now we'll let that dry and we'll be putting a trim on the sides.
