Gluing the Front of Decoupage Bookends
Now, we'll begin our gluing. I'm going to just place the napkin where I want it. I'm going to take a little bit of the decoupage glue on my finger and just sort of tack up here to hold that so it's not flopping down while I'm working. Now, the decoupage glue is special for decoupaging but you can use a white glue that's a little bit thin. If you're using a craft glue, you'll want to water it down a bit to a reasonable consistency. You'll want to be able to spread so you can see how it drifts. It's not a thick glue, it's sort of a watery glue. Now you want to just sort of gently rub the glue on very delicately. You don't want to rub hard because it will make wrinkles. Now, a little bit of wrinkling of the napkin is fine because it gives it a little texture. So I've adhered the napkin to the top. Now, I'm just going to brush the sides with a little bit of glue. Now it's good to have on hand either a damp rag or something to wipe your finger off because it can be a little sticky business here. Now the corner, you want to make sure you get nice and close. A delicate touch, you don't move too too far and just get gently gently tucked into the corner here. Then, brush the sides down like this. Now once you've done an area, you really don't want to go over it again because once the napkin is wet with glue, it becomes very very delicate. I'm actually going to switch because it's easier to work while the napkin is laying down flat.
