my 10 year old nephew had an easy time following along to draw the dog and cat and was happy with his results as well as encouraged to want to try more cartoon drawings

How to Draw a Cartoon Dog: Part 1

Hi! This is Paul Louis. You can check out my artwork over at coolclones.com or www.reallusion.com over in the content store. On behalf of Expert Village.com, I would like to welcome you. We are going to start off with a clean sheet of paper right over here and we are going to start our cartoon animals today with a cartoon dog, so let’s start off with a nice long line like so, curving down and then back up again. I then want to go right under here, draw another curvy line and go right up to that corner. I am then going to take a little tiny curvy line here, halfway through and then another one joining it. Underneath here, another curvy line going towards the right and down. Let’s go back up here now for a second; I want to draw her eyes, so two big circles will do for two big ovals and then in the center two little dark eyes. We could even make them droopy by putting a couple of lines like this.
