Apply Blush for TV & Movie Makeup

Hi, my name is Sonja Gjokaj, I am the owner of Gjokaj make up and I'm here with Expert Village to talk to you about make up for production. In this step I want to talk to you about blush and contouring. Now blush also comes in different formulas or textures, you have cream blush, some say they look the most natural, I personally find that a powder blush comes off as the most sheer on the face. You want to stay away from blushes that have too much shimmer, if you do want to work with a high lighting product, like I demonstrated before, keep it light, don't over do it, and keep it on the right spots, and you really want to stay away from doing any shimmery product on the t zone, or on the chin or on the tip of the nose, really just keep it where the light would naturally hit you. And with a blush you can just bring in a little color into the face and to create a little more dimension, so the face doesn't look too flagged. Since we are using a heavier foundation and general make up application. So I picked a nice natural shade for Shana, that is going to give her just a beautiful glow, without looking too streaky or anything, and if you give me a little smile, this is where you want to start, it's called the apple of the cheek, so you saturate your product and tap off any excess and then you start on the apple and brush upwards towards the upper part of the ear, just like that. You keep it really light, you want to keep a loose wrist, you don't want to start pressing on the product a little bit on the temple, like that, same for the other side. And with a little latex sponge she can actually blend the product a little bit more into the skin, so it looks even more natural. Another quick trick of the trade, if you really want the face to look completely balanced, I often dip a smaller brush to my blush that I used on the cheek and I blend that right into the crease to mix that in with the shadow that actually brings the whole face a little bit more together.
