Software & Home Recording Studios Part 2

Hello. This is Aaron De Azevedo and I'm here with Expert Village. We're going to talk a little bit about Soft Sense and why they're used so much these days. I have here on my computer, a bunch of soft sense loaded. But, what is a soft sense? It is an instrument that is controlled by software and I can control it using a keyboard. For example, there are ones that are called sample-based instruments. I have one that is called sample take here. And, I have lots of fun with it. So, what they did is they went and recorded a bunch of instruments. For example, they recorded a snare drum. They recorded at different velocities playing soft. And, then they hooked it up to the keyboard with their software. So, I can trigger it. Now, those are real instrument sounds. But, I can control them off of here. So, it's nice. You get a really authentic sound. There are some other ones. Here's one that's called atmosphere, which I like a lot. And, this has some really nice string sounds and pad sounds. There just funky atmospheric sounds. Hence, the name atmosphere. This one is called Hollywood Strings. I like it. Now, Soft Sense will run anywhere from a hundred bucks. Some of the really nice ones run thousands of dollars. But, these ones cost about three hundred, four hundred, five hundred bucks. And, you get a load of nice sounds that you can use on any of your music recording programs.
