Hello, I'm Aaron De Azevedo, and I'm here with Expert Village. We're going to talk about recording vocals. Now, I set up my mike already, but I'm not going to want to record here in this room because it's pretty open, I've got my computer here making noise, I've got some amps going on, and it's going to be really noisy, and I'm not going to get a nice, clean sound in here. So, in your studio, you're going to want a room called a sound booth: a small insulated room that's quiet, and has special padding and treatments so the acoustics, it's acoustically sound. Now, what we can do, we can go back to my sound room back here, and I'll show you what we have here. So, this is a sound room. It's a little bit more isolated. We've got some special padding here. We had an engineer come and set this up. Keep in mind that usually with home studios we don't have the convenience of designing the rooms. This was a cottage, a guesthouse that we changed around and built up into a recording studio. So, anyway, I've got my sound room here, somewhat acoustically sound here. It's a lot quieter in here. Some things to remember for example, we've got a refrigerator in the other room, whenever we record in here, got to unplug the refrigerator because you'll get a little bit of sound interference with that. But in here, basically it's a nice place where I can start recording my vocals. Usually takes another guy here to hit "play" because we're kind of far away from the computer. That's another disadvantage to of an isolated booth, it's kind of far away. But you make do with what you've got. So, in here I can sing away, "I want to rock with you, girl." There we go.
