What is a Butterfly Kick?

Okay, so what is a butterfly twist you might ask? A butterfly twist, it originated from KungFu, it's a Wushu move, it is now used in a tricking scene, and a lot of break dancers use it and just regular dancers and people that like to flip. It's a really neat move, you'll see it in a lot of movies and performances. A lot of martial artists, they use it. You go into the air, you hold it flat, that would be a butterfly, you want to go all the way around and land back on your feet and that's actually a kick. You're going to swing your legs all the way around and you can actually kick several people, and I've actually seen it used in sparring. Now the butterfly twist is when you go flat, you're going to hold it out, and then you're going to pull your arms and look, and you'll do a full rotation, 360 degree rotation over a perfectly horizontal setting your foot down. And a lot of times, you want to come out of it doing a kick. Most of tricking, or acro-kicking as it's called, you always want to do a kick or a martial arts technique or strike out of it, or else it's just a flip so it's not really good for martial arts. If you want to just use it for dance, you don't really need to throw any kicks or anything out of it, or break dancing or shows, you can just keep it nice and tight and go into a cool landing. You can do it into the splits, you can combo it, do it like into a hook-kick-cartwheel aerial, different variations. It's just a really cool trick to do and it's a lot of fun to learn also and it really amazes people and "Wow's" crowds.
