We're here making collages, and before we begin I want to talk about workspace. You need a good flat open space. A desk works great, a kitchen table, a dining table. Right now, we're working on my desk, and I have my stuff laid out here. Whatever your preference is to where you like things, do that. Right now I have all of my supplies; my rope, my tape, my glues, my razor, my pens and pencils, and rulers in front of me, and I have it in front of me here so I can grab it, and it's out of the way as I start assembling my collage. To the left I have different books, maps, postcards. I have my magazines here, my workspace here, and I have some other old books and stamps and stuff to the right. It's good to have everything separated in front of you so you can see what you want, and so all your options are laid before you. It's always a pain when you look for something, and you've already kind of covered a space, and you realize, oh, I had this but it was hidden; I didn't see it. It kind of makes the work hard. So it's good to have a good, clear, organized space before you begin.
