Mouth Shape & Singing

Hello, my name is Yessenia Balan, and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to talk about the proper techniques for singing. So our very first exercise is a basic five tone exercise. You may have piano to help you out, if you don't you can follow along here, I'm going to start with the basic C, D, E, F, G, and go back down. So, I'm going to start out with a simple "Ah", the "Ah" sound is the purest sound in singing. And it's very important that as we sing the "Ah" we have the proper formation of our mouth. So the proper formation would be to open up and shape our lips much like an egg, like this. When you do the "Ah", not only are your lips rounded, but you should also feel inside of the mouth like you had a golf ball. One more thing you need to make sure your lips are shaped more vertically than horizontally. Again, here is the proper position "Ah."
