Hello, my name is Yessenia Balan and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to talk about the proper techniques for singing. The next thing we're going to talk about is proper breathing technique for singing. It's very important to understand how your body is composed so you can properly breathe. So we're going to talk about our breathing mechanism. Our body's composed of our lungs which are behind our rib cages, and underneath our lungs, right underneath our rib cage is our abdominal muscle. Now you may have heard the expression to sing with your stomach or sing using your abdominal muscle. But a lot of times we don't really understand how that works or why. So I want to help explain that. We have our lungs, the abdominal muscle underneath and the abdominal muscle actually separates the rest of our organs such as our stomach, and intestines, and liver which are underneath in the abdominal section. So what happens is, when we take a deep breath of air our lungs fill up like balloons and our abdominal muscle is literally that, a muscle, so it can move up up or down. So can you imagine this muscle moving up or down depending on how much air is inside the lungs. If we expel all the air the abdominal muscle will move up. If we fill up the lungs it will actually move down and what you'll actually see is all the organs that are within the abdominal section, the stomach and all those, will actually start protruding out more. Now, what happens nowadays because of watching your figure, making sure that you know, you don't show that stomach a lot of people will not breathe correctly when singing. But, if you want to get your optimal voice it's important that you let all the capacity of your lungs fill up with air, and by doing so it may show a little bit more stomach but you'll be able to sing better.
