How to Edit a Rap Beat

This is Jose Caban. Mac OSX, Reason and Cue Bass are registered trademarks with their respective companies and I am in no way affiliated with Apple, Propellerhead or Steinberg. Now last but certainly not least we're going to go ahead and take our guitar that we played in there and it doesn't any hip hop, it doesn't sound like it matches our beat at all so what we're going to do is we're going to edit it. We're going to chop it up like so, we're going to cut a couple pieces out and then we're going to delete parts of it. We've already picked out the best part of it that we like. Then we're going to add a few effects to it. It's real simple to add effects you just click on the effects button, come in and pick one you like. We're going to add some fuzz. So, now we've got our fuzz in here. And then we're going to go ahead and add like a delay. It sounds very chaotic now but it's going to sound really good at the end. And we're going to add these different effects to it. And then once we've got all of our effects in it we're basically coming up with something like this. It's got a phase, it's got a phase, it's got a double-delay, we've cut chunks of it out, it's got a distort on it. It no longer sounds like that acoustic guitar we fed in to it. We're going to take all this and we're going to mix it all together and see what we get. And that's it that's the basics of making a hip hop beat. As you can see it's a lot of experimentation that goes in to it, a lot of practice. A lot of just feeling it, but I promise you, you will have a great time doing it and I thank you for your time.
