Creating Auxiliary Drums for a Rap Beat

This is Jose Caban. Mac OSX Reason and Cue Base are registered trademarks of their respective companies and I am in no way affiliated with Apple, Propellerhead or Steinberg. We're going to start adding in some auxiliary drums. Auxiliary is anything from shakers to a tambourine to some congas to whatever. Timpani anything that stuff is auxiliary drums. We're going to start adding auxiliary drums to our main drum kit here to fill out the sound and give us a little something. So we've got several different things here. I'm going to go ahead and play the beat and start bringing in things one at a time and messing with them. I'm bringing in new sounds, listening and put it all together and see what we come up with. So, here's our beat. Ok and let's go ahead and start playing with some auxiliary stuff here. Something like this has got something like a cow bell sound to it. A little bit more high hats, I think we could use a little bit more high hats here. Bring them in you can see the pattern. Okay and now we're talking about bringing in a little bit heavier bass. Now I think if we copy that bass and shortened it up, made the pitch higher, we could come out with like a doo doo doo doo. So let's try that. There we go, so now we got some sort of digital sound. We've got a mix of all kinds of different drums and auxiliary drums and we're starting to get some where with the way it makes you bob your head a little bit. We're going to move on now.
