Cutting Wood Veneer to Fit

All right, now this drawer. We have a large surface to cut, so we're going to take a piece of our veneer here, we're going to find an area that's kind of straight grained and works well with this. We're going to get a surface to work on, put the veneer down and again, we're going to cut larger than we need. Hold the drawer surface down, a lot of pressure, and just literally trace around the drawer, giving yourself about a quarter of an inch all the way around. Remove the excess there. Now we've got a rough cut here. I'm going to fine tune it a little bit so we don't have all this extra veneer on the sides. So we're going to go there and cut just a slight bit, about an eighth of an inch longer. Now we have a roughed out piece of veneer, larger than our surface, we're ready to apply it. Same techniques we were going to use before, it's just a larger area.
