Now we're ready to apply the pressure on the bubble. Secure it. Get it anchored back down to the substrate again. The way we do that is with the clamps and blocks. We've got several different kind of blocks we can use. We've got MDF, you can use part board. What this gives you is a very, very flat surface. It's also hard, heavy density. We can use plywood. Small, thinner, thicker pieces. Depending on where at you're working and how much pressure you need. If you've got a big, large bubble and you need more pressure, you want a thicker piece of wood than this. Another great thing to work with is melamine. It's got a smooth surface, it's particle board cores, dense. It's very flat. But also, what it gives you is a non-stick surface. The melamine acts as its own barrier between the glue and the block itself. And so you can actually apply this directly to the bubble with your clamp pressure. When the glue squishes out, the next day, twenty four hours later, you pop the block off, and the glue will stick just to the surface and come right off. However, if you don't have a melamine block and you're going to use something like particle board, then you're going to need some kind of plastic or wax paper to put between the surfaces. When we apply the pressure here, now, the glue will squish out, but it will stick to the plastic and not the block. And that's, in essence, what we're trying to do. Is get the pressure as hard as we can and flat as we can without it sticking to the surface of the veneer. Those are just some of the ways we do it to get the pressure that we need to anchor down the bubble.
