Learn the Intro to Blink 182's "Adam's Song" on Guitar

In this video segment series, we're going to talk about Blink 182's "Adam's Song". Let's take a look at the guitar. We're going to go over every part on this song but before we can even start, if you want to play along with the CD, you're going to have to tune your guitar differently. It's not tuned to the centered E, A, D, G, B, E strings. Each string is dropped a whole step. The finger positions that I'll teach you will in normal centered tuning. But if you want to play along with the CD, you're going to have to your low E down to a D note. You'll have to turn your A string down to a G note. You'll have to tune your D string down to a C note. You'll have to tune your G string down to a F note. Your B string down to a A note and you're high E string down to a D note. That would be, basically, standard tuning dropped a whole step. If you don't have a tuner, don't even bother, just go ahead and learn the positions and play along anyhow. Once you're done tuning your guitar, put your index finger on the second fret of the A string, your ring finger on the fourth fret of the D string. You'll hit both of those in a row. Then you'll lift up your ring finger and hit the open D string. Okay? Next, you'll lift up your index finger and hit the open A string, but you're going to answer the same way with the ring finger fourth fret and then open, like this. Then, you'll bring your middle finger down to the third fret of the low E string and answer in the same way. Then the open E string, back to the third fret. The whole introduction sounds like this. (Audio demo) In the next segment, we're going to take a look at the verse for "Adam's Song". I'll see you there.
