Speeding Up Double Stroke Drum Hits

Now what we're going to do is, we're going to take the double strokes to the next level, we're going to speed them up. And I'm going to show you now what exactly happens when you speed up your double strokes. We call that the double stroke rolls. There's a point where you stop hitting two times and you start bouncing. It's as if you're doing single strokes where you're going right, left, but you're letting the sticks bounce. Now, they have to bounce evenly, they can't sound like this. That'll never sound like a drum roll. They have to sound even, like this, as you get faster. See, you have to spend a lot of time on this, learning to do this bounce, and how to make it even from striking twice.
