So today we'll be talking about how to deice your driveway and sidewalk. And we'll be using these three tools. The first is a pick and we're going to use that to crack large pieces of ice. The second is a regular shovel which we'll use to shovel those pieces of ice. And the third is sand. Traction sand which we'll use when we need some extra traction but it's not worth icing or shoveling. So as you can see there's different thicknesses of ice here. There's really thin ice here which will be good to get sand on it in order to get cars out. There's thicker ice with snow packed on here which we can use the pick and shovel to get out. And over there on the sidewalk there's a combination of thicker ice and thin black ice which we'll put sand on.
