Cage-Free & Free-Range Food Labels

Often times many people come to me confused about the difference between cage free and free range eggs and poultry. So if you look at the food claim here on this carton it says cage free and you look on this carton and it says free range. What that means is that these eggs up here with cage free came from poultry that were not confined to their cages but they may or may not have had access to the outdoors. We don't know that from this food claim. The only way to know that would be to contact the manufacturer. Down here, free range, that means that the animals were not caged and that they did have access to the outdoors. Now I do want to let you know that there is no such thing as cage free poultry because when poultry are being transported for butchering they have to be put in cages. So there's no such thing as cage free poultry.
