A food claim is generally, generally found on the front of a package. So you will see it as I said before, written as whole grain or contains fiber or is fat free. There are so many different manufacturing food claims. It's so important to know that not all of them are controlled by the FDA. I'm going to give you an example. We know that the USDA just came out with the recommending half of our grains come from whole grains. Now, the FDA currently does not have regulations on that. So in order to tell if the product is really whole grain you cannot tell that by what the claim is stating on the front of the package. You really need to go to the ingredients list and make sure that it's stating whole wheat, whole oat, whole corn, any of those, whole grains, whole barley will let you know that the product is really what it is. So I encourage you to not pay attention so much to food claims but really watch the ingredient list.
