The USDA

First let's talk about the USDA. The USDA is the government agency that is responsible for My Pyramid which it's been in the media that in 2005 the new food guide pyramid came out. And that was brought out by the USDA. And the USDA is also responsible for putting regulations on farming practices. So they are responsible for going and putting the regulations and checking to make sure that organic farms are actually organic and that conventional farms are following their practices and they aren't using any illegal pesticides or herbicides or things like that. Now the US My Pyramid comes out about every 5 to 7 years. So it's important to know that because when the USDA adds new things on a food guide pyramid as they did in 2005 such as whole grains it's important to know that manufacturers are really going to use that as a marketing tool to try to get you to buy their products and consume them.
