How to Sew Quilt Pieces Together
Okay, now that we have our blocks sewn together, we are going to check to make sure that we have it sewn the right size. We also need to check to see that our points match our other seams. And they do pretty good. We want to see that we have our 1/4 inch seam at each intersection where we have a triangle because we will be sewing sashing on to this to make it in to a big quilt. But to check to see if it is the right size, we take a 12 1/2 ruler and lay on top of it. It is, I can spray this with water and stretch it a little bit where I like a little bit here. They will stretch a little. But it has to be 12 1/2 inch before you sew the sashing on because it is actually a 12 inch finished block. You have to have a 1/4 seam on each side all the way around to make it a 12 1/2 inch block, or 12 inch.
