Cutting Fabrics Into Blocks for a Quilt

Now we are going to cut and we are going to make, actually we are going to make four blocks out of these two pieces of fabric. We sewed these right sides together on the mark. The center mark is to cut it in half on the mark. Now we have two blocks here but now we are going to cut on the diagonal and we are using the rotary cutter and the ruler and the mat underneath to cut this. Hold it tight so it doesn?t slip on you. There's two. We are going to cut this and we will have four. What we are doing is cutting on the line that we drew on here and sewed on each side of it. Now the, we have a two color block that we got to press now. So, what we do when we press these, is we press with the dark side up, set our seams. I will show you how to do that to set your seams. You need to just simply put the iron on top of it. I usually set my seams all that I have to do. While I am doing one, I do them all. Then I take my finger nail and run under it and lift it up. The iron just pushes it to the dark side. Most of the time your are pressing, to the dark side. If you have two colors of fabric, you want to press to the darker fabric. Some times the iron wants to take it and run with it. Okay, with that done, we are going to trim the little dog ears off.
