Sewing Fabrics Together for a Quilt

I start with a little starter piece of fabric and sew all off of it to the edge. That way I can sew this with out the machine eating it up. Sometimes the machine will want to grab your fabric and pull it down. What we are going to do is sew 1/4 inch from the edge of our mark on both sides. We will sew down to our center mark. Stop our needle on the center mark, pivot and we will sew this direction. This is a scant 1/4 of an inch. I usually cut my lead fabric off, my little starter fabric, cut this fabric loose. Start my starter fabric again and sew this direction 1/4 inch or a scant 1/4 of an inch on each side of this. Okay, you can see how it is sewn together here. We are going to cut along this line and then down this center line. We will need the rotary cutter and the ruler to do that.
