In addition to training in an aircraft like the Skyhawk, most flight schools that you'd be operating from will also allow the students -- once you've completed and obtained your certificate -- to rent the aircraft for your personal use. And that's a pretty nice benefit for those of us that either don't have the inclination or the financial resources to go out and own an aircraft on your own. The option is to be able to go out and go to a local flight school, get a flight checkout, and rent their aircraft. Rental rates vary, obviously, with the size and performance of the aircraft. And then they can also vary with certain geographic parts of the country, fuel being a little more expensive in some places than others. But it's usually based on an hourly rate, and it's called wet, and that means with fuel. So, if you're renting a plane at a wet rate, that means you're usually renting it with a full tank of fuel, and if you buy fuel somewhere else, it's usually reimbursed to that price of where you're renting from.
