Healthy Snacks for Kids

One of the healthiest eating patterns for children is something called grazing and basically what grazing means is that in between the regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it is essential that children have things that they can snack on. You want those snacks to be mainly healthy snacks. You want to make sure that you're staying away from the refined sugars, you want foods that are higher in protein, that are going to release the energy over several hours period as opposed to kind of giving them a burst of energy and then crashing. What I have prepared here is a good example of a couple of different healthy snacks. I've got some hard-boiled eggs, high in protein. I've got a couple of fresh fruits, bananas, apples, and cheese also very high in protein, and the almonds as well, and the peanut butter and this is yogurt right here for dipping the fruit in and the peanut butter can also be used for dipping. What this gives is a lot of different colors so that it's interesting to children to look at. There are different shapes, you can add some. You know what kind of shape do you feel like eating and so their getting used different shapes so they'll say like a square for the cheese or a circle for the banana slices. I definitely think it's helpful whenever possible for children to also be involved in getting the food ready, together. It makes them more invested and more a part of the actual preparation of the food so they're more likely to eat it and enjoy it. As you can see right here, my kids are pretty excited about eating this food. I've also put out a colorful platter. Again, something that is pleasing to their eyes, exciting, different colors, and different shapes. It's going to help encourage them to eat healthy.
