In this segment, we're going to learn how to strike the drum head correctly for a press roll. Again, you want to get as many bounces as you can. So, what I want you to do is make sure your fingers are off the stick, back here, and squeezing like we did in the last one, together here, aim for the center right now, bring the stick up and push it down and just let it bounce; and what you want to do is you want to stop it. You don't want to let it bounce indefinitely; you want to stop it. Push it down and make it stop bouncing. All the time you want to keep it in the center. Don't let it move around. Push it down into the center; that's why its called the press roll, just press the stick down into the center, don't hit too hard; and again, don't bring the stick way up high just keep it right here, use your wrist only and strike the head so that the stick bounces as many times as you can make it bounce and also you want to stop it. Practice this right hand ten times, left hand ten times; and so on.
