Tricep Extension Exercise Tips

This next exercise is called tricep extension. Triceps are one of the most functional muscles in the upper body, it is the three-headed muscle on the back of the arm, also important to hit. With the rope, we are going to make sure we line up our joints, wrist, elbow, shoulder. We are going to come out, we've got a neutral spine, head in line with the spine. We've selected a weight that is going to fatigue that tricep muscle in about 12 to 15 reps, to work both endurance and strength. Again, we want your elbow or your hinge joint, that's your stabilizer; we want to leave them exactly where they start, so that movement stays where you start, you don't move. From there, I'm going to hinge just a little bit, and make sure it's just the back of the arm controlling the movement, all about control. Big inhale when you come up, find your stopping point, active range of motion, and then boom, extend out to where you feel peak contraction, right in back of the arm. Inhale in; make sure that your back stays still, neck in line with the spine, and exhale, push. Again, release, find your stopping point, don't let the weight pull you back, stay where you start; and squeeze. If you've got active range of motion you can flare out a little bit at the end, if that doesn't bother your elbow joint or your wrist. Again, just hit peak contraction, release, and make sure you bring your feet together, and then release the weight; and that should effectively hit the back of the arm.
