Why you should learn how to read drum music?

Hi, I'm Jason Kay on behalf of Expert Village. Why should you learn to read music? Well you're a drummer, a lot of drummers wonder, why should I? I'm just a drummer. Well if you are going to be a musician, I think it?s the same as learning to read your own language. If you speak English, its good to read it. Otherwise, what are you called? Illiterate. If you can't read the music of your instrument, in a sense, you are illiterate. Another reason, when I was a lot younger, I used to pick up drummer magazines and open them up, and in the back you always find these really cool parts, solos and parts to songs that you would have never figured out unless you could read it. So, I like to sit down and really dig into these things. Take a little time and learn how to read it. Learn how to play a part that you wouldn't be able to play otherwise. So learning to read is very cool. You can also make money reading music, if that's what you are interested in. If you are going to be in a rock band, you probably don't need to read music. If you are going to be in a classical orchestra you have to be able to read music. It just makes you a well rounded musician. Here's a little something right here, just for example.
