Finishing Applique Shirts
Hi, I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and we are now going to transfer our image onto our shirt. Now you're going to need a hard surface for this, you can't use an ironing board with any sort of cover or anything. So I'm going to go ahead and put my t-shirt down and I'm going to put it upside down here so that I can see it. And what you're going to do is carefully peel the image off like that, and then you're going to stick it onto your shirt or your item, whatever it is that you're putting it onto. Wherever it is you want it and you just play around with it a little bit, make sure it's where you want it and then you're going to take a press cloth and you're going to iron, the iron has to be on high, and you have to have the iron running for several minutes, about eight minutes so that it's pre-heated. And then you're going to take the cloth and we're actually going to iron it for about forty-five seconds. The larger the sheet, obviously the longer that you're going to have to iron it, but you're going to have to keep it constantly moving and you want it to go around all of the entire perimeter of the image that you're transferring. And just keep it moving and just count a little bit. And again, this is a fun project you can actually transfer your children's artwork, you can scan it into your computer and then go ahead and print it out in some sort of photo program and print it out right onto the paper and you can transfer it onto bags or shirts or aprons. And those make really neat projects for grandparents and aunts and uncles. So I'm just going to check on it a little bit here, it's not quite ready. And just keep it moving around. And this is going to be a pretty good hold, you're going to be able to put it through several washes, many, many washes without it fading. Alright, and I think that that's pretty much going to do it. And you are going to have a little bit of a border around your image but that's actually going to wash off as you go washing the garment. And there you see our little bambina shirt is ready. It was a quick project takes a few minutes to pull the image off your computer and then just a few minutes to iron it on. It's a really neat project, again the possibilities are endless and you can really make a lot of really neat thing with the iron on transfers.
