Preparing Applique Pattern Supplies
Hi I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and we are making our applique shirt with a little heart. And so the first step in turning this heart into an applique is fusing our fabric onto our wonder under or our fusible paper so go ahead and with your, go ahead and cut out whatever size fabric you're going to want for that. And then with your paper scissors go ahead and cut a square or rectangle giving it just a little bit of extra room because we're going to fuse our fabric onto our paper before we cut out our heart shape. Again it just gives it a little more firmness; it's easier to cut fabric straighter that way. So go ahead and cut that and then what we're going to do is take the rough part, for this particular paper we're going to take the rough part and we're going to put it onto our fabric and we're going to hold it down for about eight to ten seconds. Again you should follow the manufacturer's directions for whatever paper it is you buy they do actually vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. And so go ahead and just move it around and remember that the paper's going to stick to whatever surface it torches the hot paper. Be careful when you're ironing because you can get some paper on your iron if you have anything over. So I'm actually going to go ahead and trim this up a little bit just so we can get rid of that and it doesn't make my iron all sticky. So we're just going to move it around until it has a nice firm grip. And in the next clip we're going to go ahead and cut it out. So I'll see you in a minute.
