Now, what is the difference between a whitening product from a dentist versus a whitening product from over the counter. Very simple, the whitening product from the dentist has an expiration date, which is a very short expiration date because there is no preservative inside. The whitening product that's over the counter has a high concentration of preservatives inside. The preservative is important for the over the counter product literally because they have to be able to sit on a shelf for over many years if possible to be able to sell the product. As for the dentist, we basically purchase the product as we go. And we found that when the products don?t have the preservative inside, basically the solution works much better in whitening our teeth. And also, the preservative is very acidic, so it goes in there, it does break down the enamel if you use it too often.
