Palmer Rabbit Strips in Fly Fishing

The way we're going to form the body on this rabbit leech is by palmering this rabbit strip forward and basically, that's just wrapping it around the hook shank up toward the eye of the hook. What we're going to do is make sure that those wraps are laying right next to each other, but not overlapping them. As we go forward, we're going to kind of stroke the fur backwards, so that that next wrap lays down right next to it, but doesn't go over it. It's ok if you trap a few hairs in there, but you want to really try to make the body on this as full as you can. So, just stroke that thing back each time before you make the next wrap forward. I'm going to go up almost to the eye of the hook. Since this is a fairly bulky material, I want to leave my self plenty of room to tie it down and still be able to whip finish and still be able to make a nice head for the fly. So, when I get about here, I'm going to go ahead and pull that up and just make a couple of wraps to sort of secure it. Take that and just clip it off. Careful not to cut my thread.
