After breathing, weight shifting, body postures, you also want to think about visuals. Tai Chi is a way of moving meditation. Whereas if you were sitting still, you would still be visualizing, concentrating on your breathing. Even Tai Chi, you're moving but you still want to have those visuals. Some things that you want to think about are: where are you getting energy? Are you cleansing energy in your body? Are you trying to remove stress? Or are you trying to bring in power? Start with some basic exercises like just bringing your hands up and down. Get to where you can do that comfortably and your breathing is smooth and even. Then start to visualize in your mind roots going out of your feet. Every time you breathe out and your hands go down, breathing out, I want you to visualize roots going out. Every time you breathe in and your hands come up, I want you to imagine those roots are bringing energy – good energy – from the earth, up through your feet and out through your hands. Those visuals are often used in long exercises to help cultivate the mind, direct your attention and cultivate your internal energy. I know it might sound strange to you at first but a lot of these exercises really depend on you. You don't have to necessarily imagine roots. For you it could be just light. For you it could be some other type of image that you can get well in your mind.
