Strength Training for Break Dancing

Hi, I'm Austin McBride with Expert Village. Today I'm showing you how to break dance. In break dancing balancing and strength are equally important in being able to pull off some excellent maneuvers. So, one of the things I want to show you today is some strength techniques that we can use to help build our upper and lower body and get us ready for some difficult dance moves. This first one I'm going to show you is something typically done by football players but, that's all right we can use it in break dancing too. It's called the Popsicle and it will build pretty much your upper core and also work your lower body as well. So, what we are going to do is some what get into a push up position except we are going to have our forearms on the ground and we are going to rest like that for as long as we possible can. I'm going to show you what it looks like and you can go ahead and try it on your own time in just see how long you can hold it for. It's an excellent break dancing strength training move. So just get into this position like so and keep your butt tucked in and just hold your body straight as a board for as long as you possibly can. That is how can strengthen your body for break dancing.
