Hi, this is Bill Parker on behalf of Expert Village. Today we are going to talk about the different kinds of wind instruments. The flute is a member of the woodwind family. The sound is produced by blowing across the embouchure hole. The basic parts of the flute are the head joint, the body, and the foot joint. The clarinet is a single reed member of the woodwind family; the basic sound is produced by the reed. The parts of the clarinet are the mouthpiece, the barrel, the upper joint, the lower joint and the bell. The oboe is a member of the double reed family. The sound is produced by two reeds vibrating against each other. The basic parts of the oboe are the reed, the upper joint, the lower joint, and the bell. The trumpet is a member of the brass family. The sound is produced by buzzing your lips into the mouthpiece. The basic parts of the trumpet are the mouthpiece, the valves, the slides, and the body of the trumpet.
