How to Jazz Up a Classical Piece

Hi I'm Scott Smith with Expert Village. Right now we're going to talk about the ability to take a song that is a classical piece and jazz it up a bit. So, here's a song by Rimsky Korsakov from his work called Shaherizade. Well, if we were going to jazz it up, we would do a few things different: we would add acoustic bass, maybe a ride symbol sound, and then piano on the other side. So, here's the same song. So what I'm doing as I'm taking this waltz beat and I'm anticipating one of the beats in that rhythm which makes it-- this is a waltz. This is a jazz waltz. You can hear the difference between the two but you still count it out as 1-2-3, 1-2-3. If I can jazz this music up, I can also turn it into rock and roll. That's what we're talking about here.
