Self-Defense Against a Knife Attack

Hi, I'm Jason Jeannette with Elite Martial Arts of Middle Tennessee here on behalf of Expert Village. This is defense against knife threat -- One. Alright ... defense against a knife threat ... you fight with a knife, you're going to get cut. It's a matter of: Do I need a band-aid or do I need surgery. That's just a matter of fact. For whatever reason, maybe I'm protecting little ones or other people around. I'm just going to give him a compliant ... "Listen, man, I'll give you anything you want..." Some people use a trigger phrase, "Man, I'll give you anything you want ... " and on "want," pow, that's when they go for it whether it's gun defense, knife defense, or whatever disarms. I'm going to take my hand and pop the inside of kind of where his hand meets his wrist there. So I'm taking from here... or from here ... boom ... letting it go hitting as hard, as fast as I can. Almost simultaneously throwing a groin kick. If he's dropped the knife, I'm going in on him and attacking him. I don't want him running and grabbing the knife and chasing me as I run. So I'm going to defend ... whatever I want to do. If it needs me to take him to the ground and hold him there until the police come, then that's what the situation calls for. Otherwise, I'm striking until I'm safe and I get me and whoever else out of harm's way.
