Pet Loss Counseling for Kids: Grave Site Tips

Bailey and Autumn are painting some rocks that they are going to put near Brutus's grave site. Brutus died in the winter, in the middle of the winter, so we're still waiting for Spring at this point. So once the weather warms up and gets a little bit nicer, they are going to take these rocks and put them down by the grave site. And that is just one way that children can share their memory and show honor to their deceased pet. You can also do things like they can go with you to a nursery and pick out a tree or some plants to be able to plant there. They can also participate in picking out or making some sort of monument that can have a special saying, the pet's name, year of birth, year of death. That just gives them extra comfort when they go to go to that are of the yard or to the pet cemetery. To know that they had a part in creating some sort of memory and some sort of way to honor their pet.
