A great way to honor your deceased pet, is to make a donation in honor of the animal. That donation could go to your local humane society; they are always very appreciative of those kind of things. Or, it could go to a rescue organization, for example, the dogs that we've had have been Great Danes. Making a donation in the dogs name and having the children be involved in that to a particular organization. Like the Great Dane rescue organization. If the children want to pitch in something from some money they have in their bank, then that's a way that they feel like they are participating in that. You can also think of other unique ways to be able to remember your pet. One of the things that we did with Calvin is actually we had a star named after him. Apparently there are a lot of stars out there that are in need of names. So for, it wasn't a really high fee, you're able to do something like that. Then you get this nice framed recognition of the star. It tells you where to find the star at. Obviously you probably need a little bit of astronomy knowledge to do that. Then it has his name. So this is something that is a pretty unique way to remember your pet into the future.
